Some authors support the theory that the unconscious is warning us through dreams about a possible incubation of a disease, or some organic weakness. But others point out that the dream shows us a need for affection and care. There is also a curious and old theory referred to dreaming that a family member gets sick. If in the dream the relative is the parent it may be a prediction of some disease in our head. If the mother gets sick, the disease will be in the belly. In the case of a child, it will be the heart that gets sick and if the brothers or sisters are sick our arms and legs are in danger.

To dream you see a rainbow in the sky, betokens your changing your present state and manner of life; to dream you see the rainbow in the east, is a good omen to the poor and sick, for the former will recover their estates, and the latter their health ;if you dream you see it in the west, to the rich it is good, to the poor a bad sign ; to dream you see a rainbow directly over your head, or near you, signifies a change of fortune, and most commonly the death of the dreamer, and ruin of his family. Note also, that in your dreams, the rainbow on your right hand is good, on the left ill, and you must judge the right and left by the sun.

Lastly, prior to a piece of base deception on the part of one who had always posed as her friend, a lady I knew well as a child dreamed she saw a boy walking in front of her with bright yellow hair, and clad from head to foot in the most startling yellow clothes….
